While working in a pediatric hospital I have gained a valuable experience
especially in terms of observing orphanage children who were undergoing
treatments for various problems. Many times they would stay in the hospital for
a month or longer. Most of them had routine diagnoses common to
institutionalized children. I treated children with perinatal encephalopathy
with various syndromes. Many children had anemia, rickets, and developmental
delay. Other ones were delayed in their physical and mental development due to
insufficient care and nutrition. I gained experience and skills in dealing with
and treating children with such complicated conditions.
